Alice in Wonderland

One Promise Kept: Book 1 by Manniness (LiveJournal)
Alice/Tarrant

Alice grasps Tarrant's left hand in hers and Mirana thinks she hears Alice whisper, "Why is a raven like a writing desk?" But no, Alice couldn't have said that, Mirana decides, turning away with a shake of her head. There's no reason at all for Tarrant's face to light up or his eyes to sparkle with delight or his lips to stretch into a wide grin at such a very odd phrase. Why, the man looks as if Alice has just professed her undying love.

Harry Potter

Heart Over Mind by Regann (Fanfiction.Net Profile)
Hermione/Severus
Something odd about Hermione causes her to have unexpected reaction to a love potion. Only it's one which no one expected. How could a lack of reaction cause so much trouble? AU to Books 5 and 6.
Suddenly, no one else in the room mattered to Hermione; Dumbledore, Pomfrey, Craig and even Harry faded away as her whole attention focused on Snape, on the fact that he was mere meters away from her, that he was breathing, that he lived despite all evidence to the contrary. In that first second, she'd been paralyzed, but then she was moving, hurtling herself toward at the precise moment he stepped toward her and they met somewhere in the middle of the room, Hermione flinging her arms around his neck and holding on as tightly as she could, unconcerned that there were tears running silently down her face, only aware of the fact that Snape was returning her desperate embrace, that his arms were wrapped around her waist, his face buried against neck, murmuring soft words she couldn't hear over the fast-paced beating of her own heart.

One Day Like This by Hannah_1888 (Ashwinder Profile)
Hermione/Severus
After suffering a setback, Hermione finds her life heading in a different direction.
She heard him grumble unintelligibly under his breath and felt a such sudden rush of affection that she leaned over as far as she could, grabbed his chin, and planted a smacker of a kiss on his cheek, making a sound of satisfaction as she did so. His answering expression was one of such priceless horror that Hermione couldn't help but laugh heartily.

InuYasha

Chasing Methuselah by Sandra E (Insolency)
Kagome/Miroku
It's not enough she's flunking Geometry, no. Or that Inuyasha is about to choose Kikyou. No. Now she has to deal with the new class representative. Who, oddly enough, looks like a certain perverted monk.
She couldn't. She couldn't give him up. Not now, not ever. She'd always shared Inuyasha with Kikyou and had never asked for, or wanted, anything for herself, but... Miroku. Something within Kagome’s chest loosened most pleasantly.

She looked back up into Sesshomaru’s eyes, saw the hunger in their golden depths, the almost tender glow, and hesitated no longer. This was the end of her non-existent relationship with Inu Yasha. The thought that she would ever have a relationship with Sesshomaru was ludicrous, but right now he was hers and she wanted him. Right now, she could see in his eyes an emotion that she had never seen in Inu Yasha’s.

Kagome blushed and hid her face in his shoulder. The warmth he was radiating off attracted her and with a contend sigh she snuggled closer to him. She closed her eyes, revelling in the wonderful feeling of being held and protected. After a while her breath evened out; she had fallen asleep. Sesshomaru buried his face in her hair. "Foolish girl," he whispered and then he said no more but held silent vigilance, allowing her to sleep and get the much needed rest.

Time by Elementary Magpie (Fanfiction.Net Profile)
Kagome/Miroku
What decisions do you make when time is running out?
"You know, I don't think she even likes me very much, but there she is every day on the journey, watching out for my safety, worrying for my well being, just because that's what she does for people. Claims them." He peered back at her at last, pleading and earnest. "So how could you...how could you not love a girl like that? How could you not do anything to protect her, no matter--" Miroku stopped, drew in a surprised breath, eyes focused inward. Repeated softly to himself, in wonder, "Anything."

Kagome/Miroku

Smoothing out the colorful papers, he inspected the kit's missive. The first of the series was a crayon rendering of Inuyasha, which bore the message, 'I miss him, too.' Second was a picture of Miroku, which carried the words, 'This guy's okay.' The last sheet had taken Shippo the most time, and Souta spent a long time looking at it. His sister's image practically beamed with happiness; this time, the boy had scrawled, 'Her smile is back'.

Labyrinth

A Forfeit of Dreams by KL Morgan ()
Jareth/Sarah
If you had a second chance, would you take it? If you had a choice, would you do the right thing? And if you had a dream... what would you give to make it come true?
"True," he laughed a little, "she was not the most sweet-tempered of girls. But instead of hating the cruel world around her, instead of drowning in doubt and self-loathing… She threw herself into her own private fantasy world, trusting in her dreams to save her. Yes, it was an escape. Yes, it made her selfish and self-absorbed. But she was scared – and she was only a child." His face was pensive. "It kept her from becoming a bitter old woman with no joy in the world." His gloved hands traced the pattern of the stones that made up the window’s ledge. "And does it not take some amount or courage, to think that life can be different? To believe in your dreams?"

A Necessary Deception by Scattered Logic (Fanfiction.Net Profile)
Jareth/Sarah
Sarah believed her defeat of the Goblin King was a dream. It was real, but it was also a lie.
“Why do you love me, Sarah?” “I just do,” she said. “I don’t know why. I can’t give you a specific reason.” He laughed softly. “Nor can I give you a specific reason why I love you. Perhaps that is simply the way of it. If we can list reasons, then perhaps it isn’t real.”

Dark Labyrinth by Helen Fayle (The Book of Taliesin)
Jareth/Sarah
Three years after the events of the film, Sarah finds herself once again drawn back into the world of the Labyrinth, when both it and its enigmatic ruler are threatened by a powerful foe...
He was sitting on the window ledge, looking out over the city. A strong evening breeze whipped his wild fair hair back from a face that held a look that was two parts boredom, one part contemplation. One booted leg rested on the ledge, the other dangled over the side. As she watched, a long gloved hand idly pushed a lock of hair back from his eyes. In that unguarded, unwatched moment, he looked almost pleasant, she thought with some surprise. As she watched, he leaned forwards, staring intently at something below. With a soundless oath, he pushed back from the window and ran back down the passage towards her. She jumped back into the shadows before remembering this was only a dream, and he couldn't possibly see her. His face now held a black look she was glad wasn't directed at her. Curiosity drawing her, she followed. The throne room was awash with blood. Goblin blood.

The pounding stopped. Sarah saw Jareth slump a little in relief. They sat for a moment in sweet silence, each absorbing the fact that they were not, after all, going to die in the next few minutes. Sarah leaned back on her hand. Jareth sat on the floor, and when he lifted his eyes she couldn't help but notice he looked rather bemused to find himself still alive. "Hello again," Sarah said with a faint smile, deciding she was game. "Can I get you some tea?" Sarah's umbrella was on fire, and she smacked it on the floor a few times to smother it.

"And you solved it. You reached your brother when you took that final leap." "And so the rest of it, all that stuff at the end, that "Fear me, love me, do as I say," was...what? Your attempt at proposing to me?" Sarah was incredulous. "As I said," Jareth gritted out, "you were far too immature to realize what was being offered." "Well, you weren't very clear," Sarah snapped. "I can understand why you've got a maze fixing you up with women. You obviously don't know how to go about it."

The Price of Dreams by KnifeEdge (Fanfiction.Net Profile)
Jareth/Sarah
Dangerous thing to get what you wish for. More dangerous still to crave it after, to miss that magic, to grab hold of it with both hands and refuse to let go. I never even tried. Foolish, I know.
How to describe a kiss? Might as well describe the ocean, or the ever changing gowns of the moon. Can you see a wind? Can you taste an emotion? Can you hear a painting? No mere meeting of the mouths, this. No soft brushes or dancing tongues. This is the rain at the end of a long, long drought. This is the last piece of the jigsaw, the final turn of the stair at the top of a lighthouse. His mouth is sin incarnate and it craves mine with an intensity that is nearly staggering. We come together like magnets, dance around one another like moths at a light. We are fire and water and steel and velvet. This is not a kiss, it’s creation, and with it, I understand infinity.

The Way Forward by atsuibelulah ()
Jareth/Sarah
With the horrors of the Underground behind them, Sarah and Jareth, now mortal and ignortant of his past, find themselves separated in the Aboveground. How long and how much will it take for them to find each other again?
He looked into her eyes. Her eyes, oh, her eyes had stayed with him, had haunted him in all his dreams. He lost and found himself again in her hedgerow eyes and spoke, "Sarah." He said her name as if he'd been waiting to speak it for centuries, unlike he had ever said it before and tears came to Sarah's eyes.

What You Wish For by KnifeEdge (Fanfiction.Net Profile)
Jareth/Sarah
Some advice: The way forward is sometimes the way back. Take nothing for granted. Look before you leap. Things aren't always what they seem. Remember, Faeries bite. And most of all, be careful what you wish for...
I offered you everything, hoping you would stay, but terrified you would, too. What would you lose, if I took you then? You had such potential. I was oddly relieved that you defeated me. I have waited for so long, hoping, wondering if all I had ever done was in vain. I cannot live only within your dreams, Sarah. When I felt your wish tonight, I had convinced myself you had forgotten me. I would have taken back that power you have over me, and my kingdom. But I find that you alone in this world are my match, you alone are worthy of them.

Phantom of the Opera

A Ceux Qui Attendant "To Those Who Wait" by Heather Sullivan (Erik's House)
Christine/Erik
When I began this story, I thought it would be my last sojourn into fanfic - how wrong I was :) This time, I draw my inspiration from Lord Webber, whose prologue to the musical presents "a mystery never fully explained." Add a dash of Susan Kay plus a twist of Sincere Christine and get this story, which explores exactly what the Vicomte de Changy means in his question to the music-box.
As I stared straight down into his eyes, my fingers twitched with the long-forgotten urge to span the diameter of his throat and squeeze. I exhaled. "Because you loved her," I replied in the lowest, evenest tone I could muster, "I will forget you said that. But you are alive today because she loved me, and you should never forget that. She was my savior, de Changy, and yours too - but for her, you would have been cold in your grave these twenty years at least." I moved to the door, feeling weak and close to tears; at the threshold I paused. "Go home, boy," I said over my shoulder. "You are not wanted here. You have never been wanted here."

Al Fin con Amore by Heather Sullivan (Erik's House)
Christine/Erik
This is the first of my fan novellas; it is based upon both the Leroux novel and the ALW musical, so you will find elements of both in the story. Christine has chosen Erik, as at the end of Leroux's novel; however, instead of releasing her to the Vicomte, Erik holds Christine to her promise and keeps her with him. I gave my Christine a shot of determination, making her resolved to keep her word - only to discover that maybe she doesn't determination to keep her with Erik after all.
"I moved closer to him, offering my body to his arms, repeating the gesture he had made to me with the veil such a short time ago. My hands reached for the lapels of his tailcoat, and I felt the velvety thickness of the material as my hands lighted there softly. As if I stood outside of myself, I became aware that I was drawing my face to his, that my lips were whispering, "No thoughts are in my mind but thoughts of you," just before they kissed his. His arms came around me in that blissful moment, and the recent pain melted into the soft affection of his kiss."

"I've destroyed our apartment." "I don't care." "I've destroyed my beautiful instruments." "They can be fixed," thinking back on the carnage, she amended that to "...or replaced." "I've hurt you." This thought nearly sent him over the precipice again. "I will heal. We will heal." Sensing his rising distress, she held him tighter. "It's unforgivable." "I've already forgiven you."

“Christine, I cannot change my music,” he muttered hoarsely, averting his eyes. “I can only do what my own self tells me, and it speaks the same as it ever did. This,” he gestured to the piece resting on the music stand, “is the one thing you cannot reach, nor redeem. It is my life, and you merely wishing it away cannot change my past. You have my present, and my future, but nothing short of diving intervention can change whatever I might have done before now.”

Prelude, Renascence and Denouement by Christine Reynolds ()
Christine/Erik
The first story of the trilogy, Prelude, is my version of Erik's life prior to the events chronicled by ALW and company. Because it's the longest of the three, I've broken it into two sections. The second story, Renascence, tells what happens after the musical, when Christine comes to her senses. The fact that the third story, Denouemont was called "Happily Ever After" until about a month before publication should tell you something about the contents of that one.
That first morning, waking stiff from sleeping all night in one position but elated to find her angel resting in her arms, had been the most beautiful of her life. Her slight movement had roused Erik. He had pulled his hand up to shield his eyes from the morning sunlight, then frozen with shock. His expression--wide-eyed disbelief giving way to unspeakable joy as he looked up into her face--would stay with her forever

Christine/Erik
At the end of the musical and book, Christine and Raoul leave, and Erik prepares to die. But events have a way of not working out as we think!
"It's what is in your heart that matters to me, Erik! Yes, you're scarred. You're horribly disfigured. When will you understand that I don't care?" she said, her voice low and throbbing with emotion. "I don't care at all," she continued brokenly, pulling his head down again to kiss his lips, to kiss the rough skin of his ravaged face. Erik grasped her wrists, holding her away from him. "Mon Dieu," he breathed, looking down at her. "I think you mean it." He released her and sat heavily down on the couch, with none of his usual grace.

Untwisted by Heather Sullivan (Erik's House)
Christine/Erik
This is my second Phantom novella, which is based upon my own answer to this question: What if Lord Webber misinterpreted Christine during the "Notes/Twisted Every Way" scene in Act II? Six months have passed since the chandelier fell, and Christine has had some time to think and mature.
Joy and love welled in my heart, and I began to cover his face with kisses. He wriggled away from my assault, protesting weakly, "Please, Christine … I am not wearing my mask …" "And what of it?" I giggled. "I am not wearing anything at all." "Is that so?" he asked, lifting the covers slightly as if to peek under. I pushed them down again, and resumed kissing every inch of his face. He did not shy away again.

One person pressed their lips against another's for a seemingly indeterminate period of time – normally a few seconds – and then parted again. He had seen his mother kiss his father on numerous occasions. As forms of affection went, it did not seem especially stimulating from a third party perspective.
